Home Storage

I have so many little things that need to have a place to keep them together. The totes they sell at the store are too big or too small and can't be put on their side to make for additional room on a shelf.

After purchasing new sheets for my house, I found myself with a bunch of plastic bags, with zippers and they are perfectly clear...If you look closely, you even get a label.

I decided it was time to tackle the small stuff for a change. I have baskets full of little things all over my house to help keep clutter down, but this is a game changer since I can put them away and still be able to see what it inside without removing it from the shelf and opening the top.

I hope you find this little life hack helpful too.
This is what my sheets were packed in. Great size, a zipper and if you want to store something that is a bit fragile or needs to stay upright, you can keep the cardboard inserts from the sheets and put it back into the bag. This bag has the insert inside.
I needed something to put all my giltter in, so I grabbed the bag. It's working perfectly. While I was picking up my glitter (hopefully this will also keep the dog and myself from looking like Pixies all the time) I thought of something that just about every mom will want off the floor.
My house has had years of lego building going on. With that, I've had many early mornings met with stepping on one of these. A pain no one should have to feel. Now you don't. You, or your lego builder, can put each set into a bag like this. I used to use Baggies but they are just not strong enough for the pointed edges. This plastic is.
The things you can put in here are endless. Anything to help with clutter is good in my book.
If you noticed in my first photo, there was a label telling me what type of sheets were in the package. It has a cool little pouch that it fits in. It also comes right out and can be flipped over to make a great label for what you are storing. Yes I know... I have a lot of glitter. That's just one bag. icon

Happy packing.

Some smaller versions with plastic hooks are great for bathroom storage, hanging from cup hooks on vanity doors or from wire closet racks. Hairbrushes, hairbands, etc.

I've used these bags for years. I use them to store out of season clothes, sweaters, winter coats. In my car I always have a couple of jackets so if I go in a building, movies, doctor's office, casino, traveling with the air condition, etc. I'm always prepared. I also keep my car accessories (jump cables etc.) in them in the spare tire well. When my kids where small I used the small ones or larger zip lock bags to pack their clothes in, so that each today all they had to do was to grab a bag to dress. It had underwear, socks, shirt, pants or shorts. I still do that for for my Mother who is 84 years old with alzheimer's. She also dress herself and remind independent. Anytime I see someone throughing them away, I ask them if they're sure they want to do that, after telling them what they can be used for. If so I take them. There's so many uses for these bags I just keep looking for new ways to use them. Hope thesee ideas can help you. For our flood victims our hearts and prayers go out to you. If you have time to gather some clothes before evaluating put clothes in zip lock bag then in backpacks. God bless you all.
