Hey Bessie! It's definitely doable - just because you rent, it doesn't mean you can't make the space your own!!

Do you know if you are allowed to paint? Also, are you comfortable patching holes in the wall (if you were to ever move out?)

If you had a photo of what you were thinking, it would help me give better advice/suggestions, but in the meantime, here's something to get you started!

Why not buy inexpensive bookcases from a store like Ikea, and put them where you want them. When you're ready to move, take them with you. (Don't forget to anchor them to the wall if they're tall or if you have small kids who might try to climb them.) Even a wall anchor will make only one or two small holes to be patched.

Hi Bessie: One thing you can do is to hang a decorative pipe, or a piece of PVC on some holders that will hold the pipe about 2 inches away from the wall and then hang the shoes by the heels from the pipe. You can use another pipe and put S hooks on it and hang your purses from that!:) You can even use a towel holder, remove the cross rod and replace it with a long wooden dowel.
