How can i split a dresser drawer into 2 small ones?




Has anyone had any luck in splitting a single dresser drawer into 2 while maintaining the look of the drawers?

Can you just put a divider down the center?
If the drawer is deep enough, you can add a tray in it by building a box to fit inside, and then adding some moulding around the edges to keep it afloat towards the top of the drawer.
How much DIY skills do you have as it will take quite a bit of modification. A skilled woodworker could do this but might not be worth the effort. Will need to be disassembled, cut in half, including drawers and rebuilt with additional new materials.
I am not sure why you want/need to split a dresser drawer into 2. It would be hard to do without taking it all apart plus adding the extra drawer sliders for 2 drawers vs 1 drawer in the space for one drawer so they could open and close properly. I like the idea of adding a divider inside the drawer or using bins inside the drawer to separate items.
