Hi Kathryn, This is a great opportunity for you both to keep the stuff you use or love. Donate or sell the things you don't. Store your winter clothes, boots, etc., in another location. (Perhaps the attic or garage) The space under your beds is prime real estate. Use boxes that will fit under the bed. These should be the things you use once in a while. That makes it easy to get to. Use the closet for things that HAVE TO be hung up. Use the bureau for things like under wear, shorts, pants, tops, etc., Anything that can be folded. Hope this helps.

  • How much furniture and closet space do you have to work with? Is your granddaughter a little girl or pre-teen or older? I would just divide any space in half. Or you, being the grandmother with presumably more stuff, take more space? What do you need to organize?

Kathryn - How can you organize a bedroom for 2 people to share

I need to find a way for my granddaughter and I to share a bedroom for storage. Only assuming that your Granddaughter is school age ittle girl or pre-teen, she will not require to much space. There are many ways to find this space. Under the bed you can use plastic storage Totes. (There are bed Risers that lift the bed up also for more clearance). Milk crates make great storage. (they can be bolted together.) Double clothing bars in the closet . (upper for you and lower for her.) Depending on the size of your room there are Ikea hacks that add more storage also. Can you post dimensions of your room or photos for more help.

perhaps you should do some sorting and get rid of what you dont need -- yard sale or donate things. Make space for only the things that you need and you will be surprised how much you have to store.

Kathryn, you are a good Grandmother. And your grand daughter is lucky to have a Grandma like you. You rock!
