I worked with someone that used a cork board, put it in a frame after covering it with fabric. She used the plastic headed tacks to hang necklaces and bracelets. She used headed pins to hang earrings. For posts she put them together with the backs and put the pin through the back. It was like a work of art.

I made a hanging system by using small robe hooks and screwing them on a 1×4. Painted board. Hung on wall behind door. Did 3 levels.
On small cup hooks, for necklaces. Bracelets lay flat. Earrings on a small piece of foam, 1 pair per square.
