Do you need ideas for organizing the closet?
Aren't you lucky to have somewhere to keep something.
Suggested above of shelves with baskets for clothes. How about a little cubby seat for him to sit and read or have a little hiding place.

You can use a shoe organizer to hang over the door and organize anything- tools, supplies, jewelry, shoes,e ct!
Hang clothes to one side, and ask grandson to build shelves about 6 inches wide on the side closest to the doorknob. Fold or roll sweaters, and knit clothing to store on shelves along with purses. If you still don't have enough hanging space, maybe you can use chains to hang a second bar below the original bar for blouses or jeans/pants hung on hangers with the cardboard tube or clips on them. Another option if your room is large enough is to buy a freestanding closet or armoire.
Put a 24" cube organizer on the bottom of the closet with sturdy bins in each cube for all his folded clothes and other items. Install a rod across the top for his shirts.
