Definitely purge but with items that you must keep, they make some really pretty fabric boxes that you can store in or if you're feeling ambitious, you can DIY some inexpensive plastic containers

Go thru each box/bag one at a time and get rid of items you don't need or want...when you are done all the bags/boxes and ready to start putting away, go thru them again...Purging...it's amazing how much stuff can be donated or given away.

Underbed storage. You can buy cheap plastic zipper bags at dollar tree or more exspensive rubbermaid etc. also use that storage under dressers etc. I store out of season bed linens this way. I store winter jeans, etc in tall hampers and rattan baskets with lids that sit out in the living room and den. I got those baskets at Ross. Use huggable hangers on HSN they are thin and you can fit more in the closet by changing all the hangers. I put up peg board in my closet and screwed pretty glass knobs in it to hang costume jewelry. Use scrapbook paper and washi tape or fancy duct tape to decorate boxes and gift bags. I store my nail polish, mismatched socks, extra undies, new beauty products etc. I also made vanity organizers with foam board, scrapbook paper and duct tape. See pictures!

Judy do you have room in your cabinets to have these rubbermaid baskets installed? I got them on Amazon. This one holds glass storage and small lastic storage. The other holds my kitchen towels, because I have so many!

What is your biggest clutter culprit? Mine is MAIL. Ugh. Whatever is the biggest problem (shoe storage, kitchen gadgets, linens) tackle that ONE thing. Once you get a system in place, keep that going, then add the next biggest culprit. Organization only works if you minimize the quantity and put it back after it's used. For example, I have organized my husband's garage probably 50 times and it always goes back to a shambles because he will not put things in their place. Good luck!
