Flocked hangers like "huggable hangers" will give you a lot more room than you will realize. You can tier hangers as well by using soda can tabs or get cascading hooks that go over the hangers.

  • Hi Willow,

If you have a small closet I would first start with decluttering and getting rid of what you no longer need/want. Then I would use some closet accessories like belt or tie hangers, scarf holders, hooks. I did a post about hanging tank tops to save room in a closet. Here are some other ideas. Here is a =organizing%20a%20small%20closet%7Ctyped]Pinterest search that will hopefully help.

I would make sure to have some shelving so that you can stack bins/baskets easily and keep things organized.

Place multiple items on one hanger...2 pairs of slacks, 2 pairs of jeans on hangers with sturdy clips, 2 skirts, jackets with blouses, vests with blouses, etc. Multiple scarves on one hanger. Multiple belts in a shallow see thru bin. Shoes and boots in original boxes on shelf, or in see thru bins. Use vertical space. Store out of season items in a suitcase stored in closet corner.

All woolen sweaters should be folded and placed in drawers. Folding in alternate directions makes more space. Fold t-shirts to no wider than 7", then fold bottom to top twice. Place on edge, in drawers. Fold socks in half or thirds. Place in see thru bins, on edge.
