I am renting a unit that has hardly any storage in the kitchen. Does anyone have any ideas? And in the main bedroom, the same thing, plenty of empty walls but no storage. I need ideas to fix the problem on both please.

For the kitchen you can purchase a bakers rack for those extra items you need to tidy up. For your bedroom I find using baskets very handy or there are stackable units available with pull out draws.

Floating shelves are great as are inexpensive bookcases or hanging shelving units (often available for free or low cost on Craigslist) from Walmart or Target. Stacking racks for dishes can double your interior cabinet space, as can cup hooks for your mugs/cups underneath cabinets. Utilize inside cabinet door space for spice racks, etc.

I have a little age so I can remember free standing kitchen cabinets with their pull out enamel work tops. Also cedar robes and chiffoniers for the bedroom. Check recycling stores and good will.

You can also try to downsize maybe some of the things you don't use. That is how I got more space for the things I do use.

For the kitchen use a small bookshelf for storage. Add basket or plastic containers to group things like spices, canned products, coffee and tea, etc. For the bedroom , don't dor get to utilize underbed storage units. You can most likely access three of four sides of your bed and store out of season clothing, hand bags, etc in plastic containers or even Ziploc Space saver bags. Again, if your budget and space allows, a couple of bookshelves make great vertical storage. Baskets for socks, belts and scarves, shoes, books, etc. cover the bookcase using a tension rod and curtain to match your window covering

Back in the 90's everyone wanted an Armoire entertainment center= as TVs got bigger and bigger, they are no longer needed. Watch thrift stores. You should be able to pick one up for small price. put shelves where the tv had been
