We needed more storage and purchased 2 flat tubs on wheels with top lift lids about 4 feet by 2 feet (king size bed). I store all of one season clothes in one (like right now I will be getting out all my warmer slacks, sweaters, and pull overs for cooling fall and winter). Then I will store my spring/summer tank tops and so forth. My husband and I each have one for our storage and it works great. They are easy to move on their wheels and the lids open half a tub at a time so either end can be opened very conveniently. They have been a closet saver! You could put shoes, quilting material,or anything in them.
The vacuum bags work really well for storing clothes, bedding, etc. under the bed.
Go to your local Habitat restore or any local thrift store. They have lots of drawers there, that you can paint and add tiny wheels to the bottom. If they don't have a handle on them, just add one on. Then you can just fill them up and roll them under the bed.
You can also get fabric zip-closed bags at stores like IKEA or even Ross/Marshalls. Some even have sections inside for stuff like shoes.
On a side note, if you're storing stuff under your bed, make sure you have a bed skirt to hide the containers!
Buy an old dresser at a thrift store or yard sale. Take out the drawers, add small caster wheels to the bottom corners of the drawers. Roll them under the bed for more storage.
