I get small little plastic containers like from harbor freight or my discount store. They are great for storing earrings. I think they are either fishing things or tool things.
I store earrings in embroidery floss containers from the craft store. Have them in one of my dresser drawers.
pill boxes or tiny plastic bags as mom's used to have (bags kept in box of some kind)
If they are posts, cork board can be used to press the posts in. Push the backs all the way on and just push them in like you would a tack. For wire earrings, put the tacks with the plastic long ends into the cork and hang them from the plastic ends. I have seen this done before and hung on a wall in a frame of some sort.
I use little pill boxes or old altoid tins to organize my jewelry
