I would like to be able to create some more organization in this closet and cover up that ugly pipe. All my DIYers?

You could build an enclosure around the pipe but I personally don't find it so offensive. As far as additional storage you could buy some baskets that you can take down to stire things out of sight. if you only plan to hang jackets in this closet you could add some shelving or a shoe rack on the bottom.

cant see pipe but use hangers that track downward instead of across. they can be bout at Wally World for a few bucks and use a barn door effect or shutters...please...no curtains.

Change it into a mini mudroom.

Or do this shower curtain ring solution:

How about roll up curtains, or Roman shades:

Would it be possible to get baskets & put some kind of hooks on the back to hang them from the pipe? Then let them tilt forward to store light items. Not sure how strong the pipe is or what type it is. Or put a rod in front of it to hang them from. Good luck!

I am with the others in that the pipe doesn't bother me at all. As it does bother you, how about merely wrapping it with contact paper to make it more "decorative"?

Here are the multiple hangers that were talked about. There are various companies making them at higher prices. Some include wood hangers, etc.

Regarding the opening - you could put up a door there and frame the opening for a finished look. Depending on how much you want to spend, you could put up a barn door sliding thingie. Here's a link on doing it DIY, links to the hardware, etc.

For more storage I would add 1-2 additional shelves above what's there.

Honestly, the pipe is not that noticeable, but if it bothers you, try painting it the same color as the interior of the closet so it will blend in better. For the closet itself, try converting it into a cute storage area...see picture below. Add a fun color scheme that will detract even more from the pipe, remove the hanging rod and add coat hooks, a shoe rack at the bottom and storage bins or baskets on the top shelf to maximize the storage space as much as possible.

You could also hang one of the plastic shoe holders from a plastic or wood hanger with a moveable hook at the top so that it is facing out. Hang it from the pipe, and cut it off below the top or second row of pockets. You can use decorative tape at the bottom and the top of the shoe holder. You certainly cover the pipe with Contact paper or paint. Best wishes 😇💖

First declutter. Then make everyone take shoes up to their rooms and if you live somewhere up north when it snows have a mat on floor for the snow to drip off. No one should have more than one coat for that season and one pair of shoes for that day in that closet. So unless you have a super large family I don't understand why it is jammed packed. But take comfort in knowing that this is an ongoing problem we all deal with and that you are not alone in your frustration. I really like the closet picture that was sent to you but in the end you will be in the same boat. People and kids get lazy or are just so preoccupied with what they need to do that putting things where they belong takes a back seat. I highly doubt that you will win this battle and you will just cause yourself more frustration. The pipe was only noticed by me because you pointed this out. Unless this is the entrance to your home move on to a battle that you really have control over. Somethings are just poinyless. I speak from my experience and I don't have young children I have adults and I have shoes all over the place at back entrance into home in the utility /laundry area. I tried everything that I could think of and even threw their shoes out when they wouldn't cooperate, finally I came across an over the door shoe holder and I placed them all on their and guess what they still end up on floor. So that is why I suggest moving forward from this battle it is not to be disrespectful nor cold hearted it's just not worth the time. Life is passing by find a doable project but please don't go with organizing anything in your kitchen cabinets or cleared off counter tops because my experience is that they don't stay that way it's just like my shoe problem so I just leave things alone in their because we can't in the end control others and we can't throw them out either, people are who they are and if you have read all of this then you are a saint. Remember it is what it is but just don't live with regret that you let life go by wherein about a coat closet a pipe or things you can't control. May you be blessed, have a great day.
