Store the clothes you currently do not need under the bed or mattress. If space allows use a additional closet rack or bookshelf .Use baskets .
Floating shelves , under the bed storage , box shelves with fabric covered drawers .
If you are able to access the internet you could get tons of ideas to make your one room as efficient and comfortable as possible.
Sometimes a loft bed helps and provides more space☺. I knew people that did that in their dorm rooms and put a couch under it.
If you're anything like me storage is always the issue. I put my bed up on risers that I found relatively cheap at Walmart. You can then use boxes or old dresser drawers to organize what you will put under it. I love the vacuum storage bags from the Dollar Store to increase storage further. I purchased an adjustable closet rod extender from Amazon for under $15 and doubled my closet space. Look for old trunks at thrift stores, rummage sales, and flea markets for more storage that is also decorative. Over the door hooks and shoe organizers add more storage space. Once you start looking around and utilizing all of the blank space it's amazing how much you can actually store and still have an attractive and uncluttered space to relax.
First things first... edit, edit, edit. Make sure you only keep things in your space that you actually need and use. Then go up... use the full height of the room and closet space to store items used less often. I love the ideas about raising the bed and using the space underneath either for storage or to increase living space.
