Vintage Sewing Box Repurposed as a Jewelry Box

Jewelry storage was one of the issues that I addressed during our master bedroom redo. I had a jewelry box, but it was too small. Then I “took in” a new to me jewelry box but it was too big (and too oak if I am being honest). I also wanted a jewelry box that was more “me” and, as close to free as possible.
At the same time I was looking for a jewelry box, this vintage sewing box was now longer working in the living room. It was $5 and it came with a story and a surprise (the best finds do). I decided to repurpose the vintage sewing box into my new jewelry box.
A little paint, rub-n-buff and new knobs and I now have a new, vintage jewelry box!
I lined the drawers with burlap.
The little compartments are perfect for holding jewelry. To make the section that holds my rings, I cut slits in a scrap piece of foam and tucked burlap in the folds. Now I have enough space for my rings.
I know, I could have been practical and used the sewing box as a sewing box. That’s just not me. I love that it was once a sewing box but now it has new life as my jewelry box.

No way! I love this! Gonna steal this idea. I like the idea of lining the little compartments with cute fabric.
