Whitman's Candy Box Turned Jewelry/Keep Sake Box Recycled

This box of candy was a gift that I wanted to keep giving! The box was in good shape. What an idea I had for the slotted placement in the box... a jewelry box!
So, I started by spray painting the box and tray with black spray paint and let it dry. Then I added some leftover trim from another project and hot glued for detail. Then, I took chalk paint to lightly paint over the black.
I found that I could use these little wooden knobs that I also had on hand for the legs and top of my jewelry box. They were also painted black. After drying, they were also lightly painted in chalk paint. Once dry, they were lightly sanded to give them an antique look.
And so here it is! I added a stencil design to complete the look of my gift that will keeps on giving!

So cute! Ive bought several of the candy boxes by Ferro Roucher in the past (ok love the candies!) but also just for the boxes which also make great storage for rings and earrings...esp since the cover of the box is clear and its an easy way to see which box holds the pair I'm looking for. Passing this idea along too! Thanks for sharing!
