Headboard ideas that include storage

Does anyone have ideas for a dorm-room-sized twin headboard that isn't just a flat piece of wood/cloth? One that has a shelf for an alarm clock, book place to keep eyeglasses, etc?

I wonder if you could use a bookcase. The exposed part for your clock, books and whatever, and, the hidden part to hide your valuables. Just a thought.

IKEA has a twin headboard with slide out storage called FLAXA. They also have one for larger beds called BRIMNES. Its desgn is pretty simple. I would think you could make one pretty easily. You can get the bookcase type headboards from Target or Walmart for around $100. I see people selling them for cheap on Craigslist all the time.
