How about a daybed with trundle underneath? Use for sitting or lounging as well as sleeping. Daybed is actually a twin size bed as well as trundle would be tucked underneath. Sleeping much more comfortable than a sleeper sofa.

  • I agree with Gail! Plus day beds come in so many styles to fit any decor and are not expensive.

If you have your heart set on a Murphy Bed, you can always make one. There are oh so many tutorials on line - and you can build them quite inexpensively.

Agree on the day bed if you have the room. If like me the space is an office area and surplus guest room, we bought a leather ottoman that stores a memory foam mattress inside it. Just pull it out and set up when needed.

From my guests that have slept on a sofa sleeper, they all have hated it. Not comfortable.

I would not recommend a sleeper sofa. I would use the room as you wish and use an air mattress when you have guests. Just keep in mind not to clutter it up so that there is room when you have guests stay.

I thought about that myself ... but sometimes there are sharp edges on the sleep sofa frame that might puncture the air mattress. Otherwise if you really thing that you’d prefer a sleeper sofa consider putting/sliding something firm between the mattress and frame. This way, your guests won’t feel the springs and metal frame that is generally the biggest complaint. Even a remnant of paneling or plywood would do the trick. You might even be able to place it under the sofa or in the closet Until you need it. It can be in 2 or 3 pieces (vertical or horizonta). Keep me posted. All the best!

You can add the 3" gel pads to sofa beds to make them comfy enough to enjoy.
