When I was a little girl I read Snuffy Smith in the comics. They were hill billies who lived in a log cabin with a log bed and quilts on the bed and rag rugs on the floor. To me that was the epitome of country and I loved it. There could be lots of ways, though, of expressing "country"; checks, enamelware, baskets, quilts, rag rugs. Check out Sister Parrish designs, she did it marvelously.
Do you want to do just paint, curtains and bedspread?
Or do you want to apply wallpaper or siding?
Do you want to change a light fixture?
Check out decor steals website for inspiration and great deals. White and beige, buffalo check accents. Simple. Hobby lobby might also be good for pieces and inspiration.
