Decorating a sliding closet door

My (double) closet has sliding mirrored doors and one side is cracked. I can't afford to replace them. Any ideas please? Thanks!

Hi Sheri: in Feng-Shui (traditional Chinese concept of thinking your home and its decoration with regards to flowing energy etc..light etc..) it has a very bad influence on you, to see yourself "split" as in a cracked mirror or in mirror tiles. Personally I think there's a lot of wisdom in this kind of philosophy, so I'd take the cracked mirror down, or the mirrors on both sides -if one side only makes the room look strange, and I'd give up the mirror effect until I'd have budget for replacing. You can use the whole mirror somewhere else, like mounted on the wall, and mount it for very little money, depending on the nature of the wall -ask for advice at your local retail store for screws etc.. The sliding doors can then be sanded (refill the holes if the mirrors left any) and painted or you can apply foil, either decorative foil or mirror foil if you want to keep the idea with reflecting light. PS: mirror foil (at least as I know it) is not good enough for you to see yourself, it's just close to the light reflecting effect of mirrors. With some duct tape and some paint you can make very pretty things like stripes (the colors of your room or appeasing white-grey, or using spray paint you can make "glamour" golden stripes, not necessarily all the way down but say in the middle, a bunch of stripes, or you can have stickers made with whatever you like to see/read such as poems or Bible quotes)...Hope you enjoy!

You could cover the cracked side entirely with either wallpaper, bead or bling curtain, family photos etc.

depending on how bad the cracks are you could glue small tiles on to follow the racks but too even swirl off the cracks to make a wispy wave design

Take the doors off and put a curtain and rod in it's place. Easier to see everything with curtains and provides a softer look.

Contact paper from the dollar store is probably the least expensive fix. A friend cut her contact paper into strips and used two different colors to make stripes on an old hollow core closet door, but it should work on glass with no problems.
