I am missing both legs but I have a decent sized bedroom and love the bed he made. Storage yeah!!! But I can't do the steps. Can we add something for me to use to get in the bed?

Is there something similar to a Hoyer Lift that you can use by yourself?

You didn't say how much higher the bed is than you need it to be. If it isn't too much higher, could you put a side rail on and use a transfer board to pull yourself up? I know most people with lower body mobility problems usually have incredibly good upper body strength.

A transfer board is much cheaper and easy to use than a lift, especially if there is no one to help. When I worked short term rehab way back when, for a short time, most everyone was able to learn the transfer board easily and did it all by themselves after a few tries and had it down before they went to a long term facility for more rehab. I figured if they could do it, you would have no problem.

YES.... just tuck the cupboard and drawers under the bed with out the platform outside the bed area itself... it is all a matter of the height of the cupboards or drawer units used..... You might also look at some of the under bed storage solutions used in travel trailers and motor homes.... the beds use hydraulic pistons to help lift and lower the mattress platform or have drawers that extend all the way to the center of the bed platform. Easy to access storage (some for stuff you don't use everyday) and easy access to the bed.
