What is the easiest way to refinish a 35yr old bedroom set?

    Depends on the wood my husband did two pieces for me that my greatgrandmothers left me the bed was covered with layers of paint he sanded and used stripper when it was off he found 3 kinds of wood this is a four poster bed they were cherry, oak, and mohaugany he rubed it down with lind seed oil same with the ceder chifarobe

    clean well and paint with chalk paint. No sanding or priming needed.

    If it's seriously chipped or heavily varnished you may want to strip or sand first. Even chalk paint won't always look nice without some prep

    If you like the general stain color, just sand off any shellac, and give a coat of gel stain in same color or a darker one, and then a top coat.
