When we remodeled our bathroom, we knew we wanted to add some sort of door to the entrance. Our bathroom is connected to our master bedroom and there wasn't a door there for the longest time. After looking into different solutions, we decided a barn door would make the most sense.

Now, of course, I couldn't have just any barn door. I wanted something unique! Lots of barn doors are farmhouse style and I was looking for something more modern. After searching the internet and picking my brain, I came up with a concept for a fluted barn door. I've attached my quick sketch so you can see where my brain was at!

The best thing about building your own door is the fact that you can completely customize it to your space. I built this door according to the opening of the entryway but you could switch up the dimensions to better suit your area. I've attached a diagram with the dimensions used for our door.

As far as materials go, I used a sheet of 3/4" plywood, 4 pieces of 1x4 MDF trim, and fluted trim for the center panels. You will just need a saw to cut your pieces, brad nails, glue, a drill, and the barn door hardware. It was a fairly simple build! I have a full tutorial linked here on my Instagram. After putting it all together, I primed and painted it with BEHR Pumice.

We are obsessed with how this turned out and we admire it daily!
