How to Install Retrofit Windows by Yourself
Installing replacement windows may look complicated, but its easy and requires some basic tools and skills. Here are some easy steps to replace your old window with brand new: -
Step 1: Remove the old glass and frame
Carefully remove the glass and frame of the old window. You can also use the same old frame. But before using old frame make sure its in good condition.
Step 2: Clean the Opening
Once the old frame is removed, clean the surrounding area and openings. Make sure all the debris is removed.
Step 3: Place new frame into position
Now place the new frame into the position and check if it is leveled accurately.
Step 4: Securely Fasten the steel frame into uPVC frame
Once the true level is achieved, securely fasten the steel frame into place using screw driver.
Step 5: Install glazed glass units into panel
After fastening frame, now place glazed glass units into panels, one at a time.
Step 6: Add glazing beads around frame
Tap glazing bead into position around each frame to hold the glass in position.
Step 7: Seal the area around window
With the new window in perfect position, seal the frames and any openings around it.
Step 8: Apply Silicon on the exterior as well.
Using silicon gun apply silicon on the exterior of window against the brickwork.
Step 9: Clean glass and frames
Now thoroughly clean the glass and frames using glass cleaner and microfiber cloth.
Step 10: Test locks and Operator
Lastly check locks and operators. Check operator for correct operation and alignment.
