There are barn-door slider kits available online and in larger home improvement stores now. Just be certain there is ample room on both sides of the opening for the entire door to slide past without obstacles, or opt for it only sliding one way.
Your hardware store will have the required hardware you need. Check it out to see what width you require in your door to enable you to hang it in the top fasteners which float in the rail. You could make a frame the proper width and install your acrylic glass or plexi-glass.
I love my barn door! I used a 12 light interior door like this: https://www.lowes.com/pd/ReliaBilt-Clear-Glass-Pine-Slab-Interior-Door-Common-32-in-x-80-in-Actual-32-in-x-80-in/1000169971 and this barn door track: https://www.homedepot.com/p/CALHOME-79-in-Classic-Bent-Strap-Barn-Style-Sliding-Door-Track-and-Hardware-Set-SDH-SWD11-AB-79/301040911 Make sure your rail is twice as long as your door plus trim is wide. Your door should cover the trim but if it doesn't you can add wood to each side, fill with plastic wood putty and sand it smooth. You can lengthen the door the same way. Your rail must provide about 1" clearance when your door slides over the trim and support bolts must go into wood so you may need to install a trim board (2x 6) to bolt into. When installing the rail, drill and install the center bolt first and then level the rail. Instead of routing out the guide in the bottom of the door, I used pine outside corner moulding on the wall side of the door which worked great. Hope this helped!
