Have an entryway that is 36" wide, but where I want the sliding barn door is only about 20" on each side of the door and I want to build a double system so each door will be less than 20" wide. ANy suggestions?

I have a larger opening and I want barn doors as well. Mine are going to be shutters hung on the inside, not outside of the doorway. It is to my laundry nook off my kitchen. I don’t have room to slide the doors both directions but only one. That’s why I have to do it this way.

    Hi Brian,

I saw this recently on the Flip or Flop (Tarek and Christina) episode and this blog has a good how to. Your width may be shorter than most spans so maybe go talk with the guys at your favorite store on how to create so you don't have to special order perhaps.

The width you have to work with is 76" total so I would go 72" and use 19" doors if that makes sense. You might have to add a pocket door latch to keep them together when closed if that is important.
