Fire Pit Facelift

2 Materials
1 Hour

We had this fire pit for just a year before the paint started chipping off. We use it all the time but it was such an eyesore. Since it was in perfect working condition and it was just a cosmetic issue, I decided to give it a little facelift with spray paint.

What I used:

High heat spray paint

Paint scraper

Step 1: scrape

since there were visible paint chips, first I used a paint scraper to scrape off anything I could. Lots of big chunks came off!

Step 2: sand

Next, I used my orbital sander and 120 grit sand paper to sand the whole thing to prep it for paint. Once I was done sanding, I wipe the whole thing down with a microfiber cloth so make sure it was a clean slate.

Step 3: spray

Finally I was ready for spray paint! Again, I used high heat spray paint so that it wouldn’t be damaged by the fire. A tip for spray painting is done keep coats light to prevent drips.

I couldn’t believe this transformation- It looks brand new! I’m so glad we found a way to make our fire pit a little nicer to look at. Now we can really enjoy it!
