Building Barstool Frames for Plastic Chair Seats
I was given a pair of plastic chair seats (like the kind schools use) without bases. It took me a few years, literally, to figure out what type of base I wanted to add to the seats. I finally figured it out and am really happy with the results!
The seats were originally brown so I spray painted them a soft white. I used RustOleum Painter's Touch 2x Ultra Cover. I used three coats and it covered well!
Then, I used a plan for traditional barstools that I created (link below!) to build the bases. I used 2x2s and stained the frames in Golden Oak. I think the Golden Oak stain on pine is fabulous!
I added nail-on furniture feet to the bottom of the legs then secured the seats to the frames using 3" Powerlag screws (which can also be spray painted, if desired).
I am so incredibly happy with the way they came out! They are bar height and perfectly compliment the pallet tables I made for crafting!

I really love this! I have a couple of fake Eames chairs I can't repair the metal legs, and I am going to try this. Thanks

Did you make the legs the same length? Great reuse and repurpose project. They even look comfortable too.
