I love the look of day beds, especially for little girls' rooms. They are just so much fun. But they are pretty expensive to make. So when I found some awesome doors at a garage sale for $9 each, I couldn't pass them up! My little girl had a queen size bed room, but we moved it to her brother's room and to make it up to her, I made her this fun bed!
Here are the doors that I got from a garage sale. He wanted $20 a piece for them, I only had $18 and I really wanted them, so I offered him the $18 and he took it! Great deal on nice doors!!
The first thing I did was made the sides of the bed. Using 2x4s, I cut them all the same length and then using pocket screws, I screwed the boards into a board on the bottom.
Then I screwed a board on the top of the boards. For more support I put in 2 1/2" wood screws directly into the boards (on top and bottom).
I painted everything white and then screwed the door onto the wall and then the side of the bed into the door.
I installed some L brackets onto the door and sides for more support.
And that's it! I put the bed back into the bed and now she has a super cute and fun day bed!
I think we spent about $30 for everything on the bed and I love how everything looks on it! For more details, make sure to check out my blog post!
