Are you in search for a simple wooden headboard? Here’s an easy and trendy headboard idea you can start doing for your first DIY.

We bought the wood from Home Depot and had them cut them to our desired size. We used a combination of 1x2 and 1x1 wood and a 1/2 inch plywood to build the headboard. You can change this sizing depending on how thick you want your headboard to be, while also taking into consideration the weight of the finish product.

We started attaching the base of the headboard using wood glue and pocket hole screws. Make sure to attach two screws on each side so the wood doesn’t rotate.

Then we attached the plywood pieces on top of the base using wood glue and nail gun. We wanted to do the slanted style so we just made sure to cover up the base.

Here’s my favorite part. We cut the excess plywood off the base and then you can finally see the headboard looking like one!

We sanded the entire piece. This is very important to make sure you get a polished finish!

Here’s the headboard before adding the 1x2 border and stain.

And here’s the finish product! We attached the headboard to the wall for safety.

Here’s a short video showing the step by step tutorial on how to create this headboard DIY.
