Create a plant stand with minimal tools and little DIY experience! These are on trend and can go with almost any decor style. And they look great in any room of the house!

This super simple plant stand is perfect for a beginner project!

Supplies:

(1) 1”x3”x8’ board (I used common pine)

(12) 1 1/4” pocket hole screws

Wood glue

Tools needed:

Miter saw

Drill

Pocket hole jig (and clamp, depending on your jig)

Sander/sandpaper

The size of your plant stand will be determined by what size pot you want to use. I suggest making the base 1 inch larger than your pot.

Here are the dimensions I used:

16”(h) x 14 1/2”(w)

My cut list:

(4) 16”

(1) 13”

(2) 5 1/4”

Once your pieces are cut, I recommend sanding everything, especially if you plan to stain your plant stand. After sanding, you’re ready to drill the holes to attach the pieces.

This is where you’ll need to drill your pocket holes. (The longer piece is the 13” one)

First, attach the 5 1/4” pieces to the center of the 13” piece. You can use a clamp to hold them steady while you screw them together. You should be fine attaching the pieces with only screws, but I always figure it doesn’t hurt to use some wood glue in addition (especially if you’re using a heavy pot.) I originally made this for a concrete planter but I liked the look of a different pot better.

Once you’ve done that you just need to attach the legs. I marked the center of my legs and placed the base right above that line. You can put the base as high or low on the legs as you’d like. Just remember you want the side with the pocket holes facing down when you’re finished. Then you’ll use a bit of wood glue, clamp one leg in place and screw the base to it. Repeat on the other 3 legs. I attached the opposite leg second, checked to make sure it was level and did the same with the last 2 legs.

Flip it over and admire your handy work! I stained mine but can leave it as is or finish yours however you’d like!

That's a great idea! I find it very cool that you can make such beauty with your own hands. And if you decorate it beautifully, you can get an exclusive thing! I think I can try to make such a thing for my spike plant. I'm even already thinking about decorating the stand.
