DIY Vanity Stool

As an avid DIYer I always have scrap wood laying around so I decided to try to make a simple stool for my recently made over vanity.

BEFORE

Technically this idea came from a nightstand I had previously made. I used the boards and legs to recreate the stool!

I sandwiched (2) 1x10s together to get a base for my stool and screwed them together. Your base can be any size.

Then using batting for cushion, fabric of choice, and a staple gun to upholster it. Upholstering is ridiculously easy when you have a simple shape!

I essentially wrapped my wood like a Christmas present and stapled the material to the underside. First batting, then fabric.

This is what it looked like but the other side is pretty, I promise! Just make sure your fabric is pulled nice and tight on the “good” side and your corners are folded neatly.

For an extra touch I hammered upholstery tacks into the side with a rubber mallet.

I spray painted these gold

Then screwed hairpin legs to the bottom of my base. (Also spray painted gold) This also held my upholstery in place even more.

And taaa daaa! Super cute scrap wood stool! It really finished off my bathroom.
