This easy DIY farmhouse style headboard can be done using a pallet at the base, or you can build your own like I did. I sprayed it with a paint sprayer in under five minutes and it can be easily installed using French cleats. Such an affordable and stylish headboard for your farmhouse bedroom. Here’s a list of the wood we used:
  • 10 boards: 1x4x6 (8 of these are used horizontally across the vertical 2×4 boards and the other two are cut and fit vertically between the horizontal 1x4s)
  • 2 boards: 2x4x96 (I cut these 2×4 boards in half so that I would have four vertical boards)
  • 8 shiplap MDF boards: 6×96
  • 1 pre-painted finished board (used for the top)

Check the blog for more detailed instructions.
Here's the finished headboard. Check out the blog to see the entire farmhouse bedroom surprise makeover!
Just lining the boards up, evenly spaced to create the base of the headboard.
All the boards are secured by wood screws and the headboard is stable.
I lined up the MDF shiplap boards to get an even cut.
The bottom board is showing, but will be covered up by the box spring. The last step is attaching the top finishing board. And then we paint!
