Golf Scorecard Display Case, Easy Joinery!

3 Materials
This display case showcases the scorecard, golf ball and pencil used when an awesome golf accomplish happens, like an eagle (two-under-par) or a hold-in-one.
This is made with solid wood, a few pieces of thin plywood and some HDPE plastic. The joinery (simple butt joints) are held together with nothing but wood glue. It's super easy to make!
I used walnut but any hardwood will do.
My brother and sister-in-law both shot two-under-par on the golf course last year and I made two of these for them. They love them!
If needed, rip board to 1/4" thick.
The base is 3/4" thick walnut. Cut the edge on a 45-degree angle.
Example of the base.
Drill a shallow hole in the base using 1.25" diameter Forstner bit.
Cut these shapes with a CNC machine or a bandsaw or scroll saw. Here's an SVG file: http://awesomewoodthings.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/golf-pencil-holder.zip
Cut thin plywood to hold the scorecard to the exact size of the scorecard. Add a rabbet to both of the long ends.
Cut a dado 1/8" deep along two pieces of 7" long piece of HDPE plastic. Position this dado 1/8" from the edge. (see image)

Hot glue this into the rabbet you made in the previous step.
Slide your scorecard into the dado and glue the scorecard holder to the frame.
Glue all the pieces together.
Showcase your masterpiece and your impressed golf accomplishment!
