Maybe you didn’t know but we are huge football fans at the Southern Yankee DIY house!
Football Saturdays & Sundays are our jams.
We live in a huge college football town in Alabama where you can’t help but get excited for game day!
& what’s the best part about game day?
Tailgating!
This year I thought what is the one thing that could make it even better… well a keg beer bar of course!
Was it also fate that we could use it in our upcoming wedding? I’d say so!
Let me show you how we made this awesome party must have with just a few Hart tools!

Supplies:
- (7) 2x4x6 Boards
- (12) 1x4x8 Boards
- 2 3/4″ Exterior Screws
- Wood Glue
- Stain
- Keg Beer Tap Kit
Tools:
- Miter Saw
- Drill
- Level
- Measuring Tape
- Hole Saw
- Square
- Brad Nailer

Procedure:
Building The Base
- Start by using a miter saw or circular saw to cut all the 2x4x6 boards to the sizes in the cut list
Next start by building the base, we will build 2 simple boxes 3′ wide/ 3′ tall/ 16″ deep
Assemble the box using wood glue & 2 3/4″ exterior screws
Tip: Make sure to clamp & level the boards as you go! No one likes a wobbly beer stand.
You should have two boxes built that look like this
Once the main box is built attach the 4 2x4x3′ boards to the top corners & bottom corners using wood glue & screws.
Now you should have something that looks like this
The last part of the base to be built is the backer. This will be made by attaching (2) 2x4x6 boarded to the back of the base using screws.
That’s it for the base!
Adding Shiplap
It’s time for the fun part! Attaching the 1×4’s around the box & top using brad nails or screws.
You can either be super fancy & miter the corners or just simply install them as butt joints
Continue attaching the shiplap to all 3 sides until you reach the top.
You will also install the 1×4 as the “countertop” portion & on the back wall. You could use thicker wood or any other material that fits your theme!
Progress so far!
Once the beer bar is built, use the hole saw to make an opening for the handles to fit through. You can have however many handles you want, we are going to have two.
Finishing
Use sand-able wood filler to fill all screw & nail holes.
Sand the bar down with 220 grit sandpaper
Before installing the taps, stain or paint the keg beer wall your desired color!
Install the door mounted handles & tap thru the holes using washers & manufactures supplies.
Hook up to the keg according the the manufactures instructions
Y’all this might be the coolest thing we have ever built!
The best part is it’s totally customizable to look however you want: rustic, farmhouse, modern, etc
