Kids’ Step Stool

Easy

I build this Step Stool for Kids using scrap wood that was left over from other projects. From cutting the pieces and attaching everything together, this project takes less than an hour to complete. The step stool is very sturdy for both indoor and outdoor use. Now my daughter could easily reach for those apples and doesn't need to call her older brother for help.

Step-1 Cut 4x4 Legs

First step is to cut four legs. Take 4x4 construction lumber and using a Miter Saw cut it to 12” long (x4).

Step-2 Cut 2x12 Top

Next take 2x12 and cut it to 12” long.

Step-3 Drill Pocket Holes

Now using a Kreg Jig, drill one pocket hole on each side of 4x4 leg for 2 1/2" Pocket Hole Screws.

Step-4 Attach Legs to Top

Apply Wood Glue on top of the leg and then attach the legs to the 2x12 top with 2 1/2" Pocket Hole Screws.

Step-5 Cover Up Pocket Holes

Take 3/8" Dowel Rod and cut it into 2” long pieces. Dip one side of the dowel into the Wood Glue and hammer it into the pocket hole. The rest of the dowel that is sticking out cut it with Dovetail Saw.
