Level Picnic Table on a Slope - Hack

Here’s how you can get a nice level table when your picnic spot is not level. Or how you can create many picnic tables for a mass beach picnic, cheaply.

Gather at least 4 plain metal shelf brackets - ones without curls. The bigger the better. Mine are about 30cm x 30cm. Use more brackets if you want to.

Choose your picnic spot. Stick them into the ground in a way that their horizontal tops will be level, stable and hidden beneath whatever top you decide to put on them.

Consider where the load will be borne and remember those on the higher parts of the slope will need to be deeper into the ground. Hold thumbs there are no stones.

Place a top on. I used an old sheet of wood. You could use a large tray.

Decorate and use. How easy is that!
