Pallets laid on floor
Hey Bella, I build a platform bed for my own bed a few months ago, I just love it. I built the frame out of 2x6s and just put plywood on the top. It was a simple project that could definitely be changed to how high you want the bed. I have a temper pedic, so I just had the 8" mattress to consider (no box spring). http://www.grandmashousediy.com/build-platform-bed-frame-diy/
Plywood is fine if you plan to paint it, but if you want to stain and seal it, I would choose something a bit nicer. Visit a proper lumber yard to check out different options.
Hubby just set the bed on the floor (our dog is old and this way she doesn't have to jump).
