Take the measurement of the round table (example: 36") Cut a piece of plywood to 36" x 36" square. Attach the table top (top side down) to the top side of the plywood square with screws. Two sided carpet tape may work if it's strong enough to hold the table top in place if you don't want to seal small screw holes in the top of the table after you remove it from the plywood.
Once the table top and plywood are attached, you can run the plywood through a table saw for a very clean cut...set the saw fence at 18"; half the table diameter. The square edges of the plywood allow you to run the straight edge against the saw fence...can't do that with a round edge :-)
If there is an apron on the bottom side of the table top, the saw blade may not cut all the way through both the apron and the top but that can be finished by hand with a fine tooth hand saw after the big cut on the table saw.
Adjust the sizes I used as examples to suit your own dimensions.
