How do I build a queen size inexpensive platform bed?
I really do not like bed skirts and want to streamline the appearance of my bed. I would love to get rid of the box springs. I have a great pillow top mattress...just need to support it. The only saw I own is a jig saw so any cuts to wood will need to be simple.

You can build a simple frame out of 2x12 boards. Jig saw will work. Buy plywood at home center and they will cut it to size with their panel saw. Put plywood on top of frame.
Could stack and tie together pallets and top with plywood sheets.
I built a waterbed frame with large drawers underneath and lowered the rails to 4". Started with a full and then enlarged to a cal-king. And since I was going to move soon I made it into 3 equal boxes tied together by the side rails. You might want to get a used, inexpensive circular saw.
