Carefully removed the end of the pew and set it aside measure to where you want to cut the Pew down to and place a 2 inch wide masking tape on your cut line. Then you can use either a Sawzall or a circular saw to cut the Pew down. Reattach the end of your pew and use any filler needed or stain to cover up where you cut.
