How to make a Garden bench base?

I'd like to know what the proper way for laying 18"x18" paving blocks would be I have a small area where I want to lay these blocks for a sitting area. I will only be using 8-10 blocks, in a corner of my yard. I have a cement garden bench and want a sturdy base.
