I’m not sure how rustic you want to go, but this is a perfect project with the trendy boards. The boards can be of various lengths and stained, painted, or washed with various colors. Place them side by side, with the bottoms all level with each other. Try different arrangements, with 3-4 boards forming a tower or two or three, with shorter boards forming castle walls in between. I wouldn’t cut out windows or other details. Glue the boards together with one horizon board at the back on the bottom, and another horizontal board on the back across the center. You can hang the symbollic castle above the bed. Best wishes ☺️
