Use base cabinetry to make an island

I want to make an island with base cabinets

    My sister did this, one side of her island butted up to a wall. She bought two cabinets , she didn't attach them to the floor. And bought a counter top and attached that to the top of them. She allowed for extra over hang on 2 sides so she could put stools under it and use it for seating aslo.

    I was wondering if I could make a 7ft island. I want to put beadboard on one side

    Yes! You can definitely do this. Beadboard will be perfect for the unfinished areas of the cabinets. If the 7 ft is has an overhang, you will need to support it. What are you planning for the top? Butcher block will be basically self-supporting, that's what my island is.
