Under Stair Basement Bar
Whenever we had people over, we flocked to the basement where the games and dart board were, but we always had to run upstairs to get drink refills.
We thought about how great it would be to have a bar right where people hang out in the basement. The next thing we knew, we were blowing out the wall and ripping the trim out.
Here is the built-in we ripped out looked like before demo.
Here is the area after we ripped the built in and drywall out, featuring Lou. :)
I'm a visual person, but I'm not an artist so if you can't tell, you should have two shelves, a bar top and space behind the bar as the arrow indicates.
I first started painting the space the color of the room, Behr Desert Sand.
Then I added trim.
Here's what the basement looked like before!
Now it was time to build the bar structure. I had NEVER built anything structural before, so I did a little research, mostly on Pinterest (lol) and figured out it was pretty simple framing with 2x4s.
I used scrap plywood on the inside and repurposed wood from the built in and added poplar 1/2x3 as trim to the front.
Then of course spackled and filled the holes.
Then added internal bar shelves and had a lot of finish work to do including painting, caulking, adding a cupboard and counter to the inside of the bar by the fridge, etc. Lo
We love how it turned out! So do our guests. :)
