Vintage Find Into Drink Table - A Life Unfolding

Popping in today to share my latest vintage find. I love mixing old and new pieces in my home and always keep an eye out for a unique piece to add to my collection. Last Fall I found this cute vintage canister and knew it was the perfect size for a drink table.
What is a “drink table”?
A drink table is exactly what it sounds like: an adorably tiny table to place your drink. Whatever your drink of choice, be it coffee in the morning or an evening glass of wine, you deserve somewhere stylish to set it.
This is my favorite kind of project. All you really need is a little vision. And a little elbow grease. I started by cleaning the canister. Be careful with what you use to clean your vintage pieces with. Start with soap and water and see if that is enough. My canister – I think it is from the 1930’s and was used to carry old film reels started out in good condition. I followed up with a little leather cleaner. It darkened it slightly but I tested it first and liked the result.
I needed to add a little height in order to use this as a drink table. So I decided to add these little vintage wheels which would allow me to move this piece around the house easily.

This canister had a flimsy bottom so I needed to add something more substantial to attach the wheels to.
Plywood would give a bit more support. I simply traced a circle and cut it out with a jigsaw.
Next up I swapped out the cardboard bottom (I was able to use an exacto knife to cut it out) and inserted the plywood which is sitting on a little ridge.
These wheels will also lock which you want so the table doesn’t move (and spill your wine)!
How easy is that?!?
Mixing vintage with modern is a love language of mine. You can see from my Vintage Chicken Crate or at my Modern Plant Stand that adding wheels or legs is one of my favorite ways to reimagine a vintage find.
