$4 Flower Pot Stand

I have a few of these cool pots for cascading flowers. By the end of the summer the wave petunias trail down quite a ways and are really full and beautiful. Originally I wanted to hang these baskets from my back porch to add lots of color. However after trying for a few years, I conceded that the afternoon sun and wind were too much for these special baskets (and I slacked a little in the care department). These flowers do really well in my front yard with morning sun and the house protecting them from the wind. I planned to hang the pots with shepherds hooks by the front porch, but my large baskets are too heavy for a simple hook. I decided to build these very simple $4 flower pot stands to lift up my baskets high enough that the petunias can freely cascade during the summer.
I used 2 simple 2x2 boards and cut them to length, my basket bottom sits 30" from the ground. The stand legs flare out a little (5 deg) to add some stability.
I cut pieces to support the flower pot and drilled pocket holes to attach the pieces to each other and to the lets. Alternatively, you can drill through the legs into the support pieces.
I attached the flower pot support to each leg with pocket hole screws.
To protect the wood from water, I used spray stain/weather protection and let that dry.
Grab the free plans and you can easily adjust the plans for the height you are looking for and width of flower pot.
