Have you ever seen how some people will hang a basket on their door instead of a wreath? I always think that looks really neat and it got me to thinking: What if we made our own similar hanging basket/bin/thing out of wood? I saw recently where someone in the US had a basket on their door and filled it with little flags for the Fourth of July and I thought this would be a perfect little project to do here for Canada Day!
I really love patriotic decor in the summertime and I’m always  a little disappointed in myself when I don’t at least do a little something fun for Canada Day, so I picked up a pack of paper flags this year and decided to go for it.
We started out by building this really simple angled bin out of some scrap wood. We trimmed it out a little bit and here’s where Chris’ bit of trivia for the day comes in. Do you know the name of this particular woodworking technique that we used here on the trim?
