Grandma's birthday was around the corner. Instead of buying presents, we prefer to make gifts. This year we combined two of her favorite loves, gardening and grandkids, into one amazing gift . . . a Flower Pot Photo Gift! We originally saw this idea on Mod Podge Rocks https://goo.gl/6xb47C and had to give it a try. The kids had a blast making the flower pot. And in case you're wondering, grandma's plant is still thriving!
Watch the video above to learn how to make your own Flower Pot Photo Gift! OR you could always read the step by step guide below.
Now, this is the most time consuming part. Choose approximately 20 black & white photos you'd like to show on the flower pot. Try to select a mixture of close up and far away shots. Size them to 1" w x 2"h then print the photos.

PHOTO TIP: All of our photos were originally taken in color. To make the pot more cohesive, we converted them to black & white then printed our photos on a laser printer using 40# white paper. However, you could also print them on Gloss photo paper. Either will work!
Now, the fun part . . .start by painting the flower pot and water tray with White acrylic paint.
Cut your photos from the paper and adhere them in two rows around the pot using Mod Podge Gloss. We positioned the bottom first and the top photo above that one.

PHOTO TIP: For visual interest, alternate your photos from close up to far away shots as seen in the video.
To protect the photos, paint a layer of Mod Podge Gloss over all the photos. Mod Podge is a decoupage glue and sealer.
Almost done . . . customize the lip of your flower pot for the recipient. For example, paint polka dots, hot glue ribbon or even beads around the edge. We took a bottle cap, dipped it in Pink acrylic paint and put polka dots around the flower pot lip.
And for the final touch, put Grandma's favorite plant or flower in the pot and you're done. Grandma will love you for this and probably make you and extra batch of cookies!
