Planter Box Built From Dog Ear Pickets

I love creating with dog ear fence pickets (The Home Depot is my favorite place to get them but other home stores carry them). Dog-ear fence pickets are easy to work with and age rather nicely. I do not do pallets so I create and buid many projects with fence pickets. I am too lazy to waste gas to hunt down pallets, tear them apart, take all the nails out of the pallets, have waste from tearing apart the pallet with bent nails and splintered wood.
I have built many things out of dog ear pickets- building a box with a bottom is all it is. This project took me an hour. I built a larger one early this spring for a Japanese Maple and love the Zen look. Plus it is cheaper to build a planter I need than to buy a plastic pot for large plants.
You can check out directions over on my blog.

William on Aug 27, 2016I love to use dog ear pickets! They're cheap at the big box stores. They also come in cedar. Your right about pallets. Hunting down good ones can be a pain. And cleaning them up is a pain. But they are free. I still do use pallets if I come across good ones. You planter box looks great! This is a SAVE!
