Planters!
We recently moved a fence from one side of the and were left with the posts - so we decided to make planters out of them!!!
We just had left over bits of wood in the shed - hammered them into the ground so we can screw the boards into them!!!
Hubby had already screwed 4 boards on before I took pictures!!!
we just used 6 foot lengths x 4 inch thick pieces of wood!!!
Hubby dug into the ground to make them level
Placed one plank in & secured with screws to the posts we put down!!
we just continued to place each plank on top of each other making sure they were level before screwing in place!
Third plank in place
We then worked our way over to the other side! Following the same instructions as previously stated
Hubby digging out to make it level - we had to measure and cut these
Using my circular saw to cut the wood!!!
This is what it was like when cut off
Before we started stacking the planks of
I hadn’t sore legs from all the squatting after making these planters!!!
More drilling!!!!
were nearly finished this one!!!
And the first box is finished!!!
just to fill it now!!!
We used the exact same technique as the first box & made the second one!!!
We then painted them using Ro seal garden paint in Tudor oak black!!!
We used leftover gravel for the planter filling for extra drainage!!!
topsoil is now ready - ready for the plants!!!!
And they are planted
This is the first one we made!!!
We ARE thrilled with them!

Yes, I will be making this. Have a lot of fence boards and will have to come up with the fence post from lumber on hand. Can't wait to give it a try.

Was wondering why you left the fence post up so high? I originally thought you might of done that in order to run a coated wire across it for climbing vegetable plants. But it turned out to be a flower garden (still beautiful!). And Sue's suggestion about solar lights is a great idea. But what was your original reasoning behind these tall post?
